December 18th, 2002 -

So, one of the things I love about going to CU is that there are these people and traditions that develop. One of my favorites is the holiday dinner that we do.

You know, before everyone leaves for break, we get together at Laine and Kim's for a potluck type meal, it's all the usual Boulder-ites and our friend Jay, (who used to be a Boulder-ite, but moved to New York to act on the legitimate stage) and my sister, MB and her friend Dave who are future Boulder-ites as they've decided to enter the hallowed halls of the University of Colorado at Boulder next year.

It's just. . .fun, you know? It's after the stress of finals and everyone decompresses and somehow, it seems like everyone magically gets alone. This year, Laine and Kim set a time limit, that it would only go till 9. Well, Ellie, her sister and I were among the first to leave at 10.30.

It feels like home. It feels like I belong somewhere. It's easy and fun and it makes the black stone in my chest feel so much lighter, so much better. I look around the room and I see the people I love surrounded in a beautiful sort of glow, and I see them as I think they really are. Flaws perfections and all. Somehow I don't get caught up in all the distractions of the every day. It's really sort of a spiritual experience, gooney as that may sound, and I am so grateful for it.
